Focus groups and polling data following Trump's indictment revealed that Republicans, for the most part, were actually MORE likely to support Trump than they were before the indictment. But the problem Trump has is that only the people who had previously supported him and then left ended up coming back, and his indictment has failed to attract any new voters. In fact, the indictment has actually turned off moderate Republicans and independents, showing that it isn't as rosy as Trump would have us believe. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

*This transcript was generated by a third-party transcription software company, so please excuse any typos. So reports outta the last week and a half or so have shown that being indicted has actually been a big boom for Donald Trump. He's raised about 10 million from his supporters, according to his people, ever since he first announced on that Saturday that I'm gonna be indicted on Tuesday. That of course the indictments didn't come that day. But then on that Thursday, they said, yes, we are gonna indict him. And then they came on the next Tuesday, which was last week. So yeah, Donald Trump has, has raised a lot of money. We have seen focus groups and polling data that shows that Republicans, some Republicans who had given up on Trump have decided that because of the indictments, they're now gonna come back to Trump. So on the whole, it looks like things worked out pretty dang well for Donald Trump. But that's only if you look at one subset of the data, actually, I guess two subsets of the data, because there's other data, other interviews with people who were on the fence about Trump. We don't know if we're gonna support 'em. We don't know if we're not. But those people have clearly said that with these indictments, I'm out, let me read you a couple of these quotes. Trump came with too much baggage. But there are still quite a few people who are all in with Trump. Uh, that's from one, uh, uh, uh, voter who says he's not too sure, but hey, you know, game him with baggage, but whatever. Another one was, a Dallas lawyer said The party should avoid Trump and find a younger and fresher candidate. I don't think Trump can win because he is too much baggage. He has good policies, but an abrasive personality. And I love that this guy actually pointed that out because that's actually the same critique I have made for years about why Republicans don't like Trump, because they all love his policies. They just, it, it's like a candy. They love the candy, they just don't like the rapper that it comes in. I, I mean, I've used that. I'm sure you've heard me use that for years now. And this guy, this Republican just comes out and says it like, yeah, we love what he does. We just don't like him. Another one said, A lot of us normal people are repulsed by Trump already, whether he's indicted or not. I like how that Republican differentiated himself. He's like, listen, us normal people, the ones that don't have MAGA hats hanging in the closet next to our clan robes, we don't like him. Another one said, he's just too caustic. I liked some of the things he did for this country, but the division that he causes because of the words he uses, creates a lot of tension. So again, with that, hey, I love what he does. You know, the, the, the, the kids at the cages, the border wall, the trade war that, you know, crippled our economy. That rocked. I just didn't like that it was him doing it Like for real though. And, and there's more quotes, I'm gonna read 'em in a second, but like, what did Trump do? Why did these reporters never push back on these dumb asses who say like, well, he did good things. I just don't like his per well. Whoa, what good things? List them out. Come on right now, I got a pen and a pad right here. The reporters should say, give me the list. What are the things he has done that made this country better? And they better be real things.
